About Us
Ad Astra Farms of Maryland is an urban micro-farm based in Upper Marlboro, serving Prince George’s and Charles Counties with fresh, seasonal vegetables and herbs. We grow food for our neighbors, strengthen local food systems across the DC Metro area, and believe that access to good food should be rooted in community, not convenience.
Our mission is to support the regional food system through sustainably grown produce, mutual aid, and home garden education. When you do business with Ad Astra Farms, you can expect good food at fair prices, responsible stewardship of the land, and exceptional service rooted in real relationships.
We farm using integrated pest management practices and low-impact growing methods including no-till, hand cultivation, intercropping, and the use of heirloom and non-GMO seeds from trusted suppliers. We do not use synthetic pesticides, fertilizers, or herbicides. Our focus is on growing healthy food in a way that protects soil, water, and ecosystems for future generations.
Food safety is a priority on our farm. We test our soil and water, avoid manure-based fertilizers, use protective equipment during harvest and packing, and handle all produce with care. We want you to feel confident about where your food comes from and how it’s grown.
We offer a seasonal CSA from May through October, with multiple share options so members can participate for the full season or join for the part of the season that best fits their lifestyle. Members receive priority access to the farm’s harvest, specialty add-ons from partner producers, early access to seasonal sales, and invitations to members-only farm visits. We also offer convenient drop sites and delivery throughout much of Prince George’s County, northern Charles County, DC, and Alexandria.
Ad Astra Farms proudly accepts SNAP/EBT for both CSA memberships and market purchases. While we are listed as a SNAP/EBT retailer, we do not operate a storefront and our farm is not open to the public.
At its core, Ad Astra Farms exists to grow food with integrity, serve our neighbors with care, and build a more resilient local food system for the communities we call home.
What We Stand For
The principles that guide how we grow, serve, and show up for our community.

Stewardship
We will use traditional and new or emerging methods to grow and produce our food in a way that cares for the land, and leaves it fit for the next generation.
Justice
We believe access to good food is a human right, and should not be exclusively reserved for the wealthy or privileged. We will speak truth to power, and dedicate time and resources to increasing food access in our community.
Education
There’s an old adage about teaching one to fish. In that spirit, we will strive to teach our community ways to feed and sustain themselves.

Growing Food. Growing Access.
Fresh, local food should be for everyone. Whether you need support or want to help others, our Mutual Aid Program connects neighbors through good food.
